Housed in a former school in Amsterdam-East is one of our favourite restaurants in Amsterdam. The interior is simple; it’s like a busy dining room, with an open kitchen in the back. The salami and fresh baked bread when you arrive is a good start of a lovely evening.

At Rotisserie Rijsel they are specialised in the French-Flemish cuisine, and they use a style of roasting, where meat is skewered on a spit. Their poussin is famous (slightly crispy on the outside, nice and soft on the inside), but do not underestimate their cote de boeuf.

Not only do we like it for the delicious food; it has a really nice ambiance and superb service, also very important!

Want to book a table at Rijsel? Do it in advance, it’s always busy!

The poussin is served with a simple, but wonderful salad or vegetables on the side, accompanied by super delicious potatoes & homemade mayonnaise.
